Name the action

Google Ads conversion measurement connects advertising interactions with actions that an organisation chooses to measure. Those actions might include a purchase or an enquiry. In a role discussion, ask what the organisation considers meaningful and who is responsible for checking that definition.

Understand the route into a report

A useful professional question is how an event becomes a reported figure. That includes the source, the configuration and the checks used to establish that the event behaves as expected. You do not need to promise a particular result to demonstrate an interest in reliable measurement.

Ask about quality as well as volume

A count describes one aspect of activity. The business may also need to understand whether an enquiry was relevant, whether a transaction was valid or whether another system records a different stage. Ask how those perspectives are brought together and where uncertainty remains.

Explain rather than impress

When discussing an example, define unfamiliar terms before using them. Say what the measure can tell you and what it cannot establish. Clear explanations help colleagues make decisions without requiring them to become platform specialists.

Use current primary guidance

Platform behaviour changes. For technical setup, consult Google’s conversion measurement guidance and the documentation relevant to the actual account. This page is a career discussion guide, not an implementation checklist. Source checked 29 October 2026.
